Manu Sessions

Improve your manu, jump from the higher boards, and start mastering your flips in a fun, safe, and supportive space. Canterbury Diving is stoked to offer these FREE* sessions thanks to Sport Canterbury, all you need to do is register and show up!

What are Manu Sessions?

These sessions give tamariki and rangatahi the chance to build confidence, safety awareness, and real skills when jumping, flipping, and popping manus into the water – all in a fun, supervised environment with qualified coaches.

Manu Sessions are about helping young people enjoy the water the way Kiwi kids always have, off pool edges, wharfs, platforms, and riverbanks – while learning how to do it with better technique and more confidence. We know jumping and manu are already part of how many kids play around water, so our goal is to support that in a positive way rather than shut it down.

At the sessions, participants get to try new things at their own pace, from simple jumps to higher boards and basic flips, with coaches on hand to guide them. It’s about building skills, having a laugh with mates, and learning how to make good choices so the fun stays safe.

Whether someone has never done a manu before or already loves sending it, these sessions are a great place to give it a go, pick up new tricks, and feel more confident in the water, and all for free*.

Sessions are held at Parakiore Recreation and Sport Centre.

Our Manu sessions have become incredibly popular! To make sure we can provide a safe and well-supervised environment, each session is limited to a maximum of 30 pre-registered divers.

We cannot accept casual participants who turn up on the night. The limit in places is for health and safety reasons and helps our coaches keep everyone safe while still making the sessions fun.

How to register

You must pre-register to attend. We cannot accept casual participants who turn up on the night.
Because spaces can fill quickly, we also recommend arriving early to give yourself the best chance of securing a place.

Please note: Due to popular demand for these free sessions, if you do not attend two consecutive classes in a term, your enrolment will be cancelled to free up your spot for others to participate.
